1. We are an ideal companion as a pet. We will follow you, love you, and amuse you all day and every day.

2. We are born sportsman. We will turn our nose to anything above ground, while below ground, we will, given our try, hold our own with the best. Dachshunds were originally bred to dig badgers out of holes.

3. We are born gentleman. Our aloof dignity is above canine skylarking and petty yelping.

4. We are courageous to a remarkable degree and will stand up for our rights against any foe.

5. We are odorless, always clean and easily housebroken.

6. We come in several sizes, colors and coats. The tiny miniatures also come in all three coats and colors, smooth, longhaired and wire-haired, and from a beautiful shiny black and tan to rich Irish Setter red. There is no other breed which offers such a selection.

7. We have a well founded reputation for being rugged and strong. Equally at home in either cold or warm climates.

8. We asks only that we be with you whether you live in a mansion or the most humble abode. We are at your side day and night and we will warn you if any strangers are lurking around.

9. We are the most affectionate, and delights in riding in car or sleeping close to you at night, but we are content with our own bed and a simple cover that he can pull over our head, with just a shiny black nose to show our presence. Just to be near you and show our love for you is all we asks.

10. We are a wonderful companion for you children, and will take a lot of rough play and enter into the spirit of fun, for us we are born comedian. You can trust a Dachshund for they have never been known to betray a confidence.
